Triple Dog Kennel With Extended Runs

Three bay wooden dog kennel with extended dog runs having side bar windows

Our customer in North Wales got in touch to purchase a bespoke dog kennel with extended dog runs.  Based on our Sandon triple kennel, the dog runs were extended from 6ft 6in to 8ft.  We were also asked to clad the run ends and add small galvanised bar windows.

Solid sides to dog runs

The wooden ends to the dog runs provide protection from weather, and also help to reduce noise from dogs barking.  A 4ft wide x 2ft tall bar panel was added for viewing and to allow ventilation and light into the runs.

Insulated and wipe clean kennel sleeps

The dog kennel sleeping areas had full height access doors, as well as a dog pop hole with aluminium anti-chew strips.  Our customer asked us to line the kennel sleeps with white PVC, which has 40mm insulation underneath.  We also added phenolic coated flooring for a wipe clean surface that is easy to clean.

The Kennel Design

After a brief chat on the phone, we put together some ideas for our customer to meet her requirements.  A floor-plan was made along with a rough plan of what the build would look like.

The Finished Kennel Build

What our customer said:

I am really pleased, thank you all for your excellent service and great communication throughout , I love my kennels ,  would  use you again and recommend you to anyone.

Double Dog Kennel and Run

Our Hampton Double Dog Kennel and Run is often overlooked – and we have no idea why! It has a full-height, apex roof maximising internal headspace and each kennel measures 10ft6 x 5ft. The large 6ft6 x 5ft dog runs are separated by a 5cm gap bar dog run panel.  Why not swap the divide for a 3/4 mix solid panel?  Alternatively, opt for a door dividing panel which allows your dogs to roam.  You will still have the option of separating your bitch when she is in season. Because the kennels are positioned lengthways, this kennel can be located at the side of your garden without taking too much depth.

Custom Built Dog Kennel, Run and Shed

Dog kennel with a large side dog run and storage shed

Our customer sent in a floorplan of a bespoke kennel layout based on our Sandon Double Kennel.  She wanted rear kennel sleeping area and large side dog run as well as a combined storage shed.  We insulated the dog kennel and lined with white PVC, and our customer also upgraded the flooring to be wipe clean.  The PVC lining and phenolic coated flooring is easy to clean and disinfect, therefore providing an anti-bacterial surface.  The kennel had access to the large dog run which had a total area of over 52 square feet.  The storage shed replaced what would normally have been the second dog run.  We built the shed from tanalised tongue and groove cladding and made sure that the door didn’t catch on a low wall in the garden.

Dog Kennel Upgrades

As well as lining the kennel with PVC insulation, we also added a wipe clean shelf.  The raised platform provided extra space for a second dog bed, and our customer sent in a photo of her dogs enjoying their bunk beds!

Dog Kennel Block with Extended Runs

We based this bespoke build on on our Sterling Dog Kennel Block.  The four bay multi block had wider kennel sections and extended runs. A returning customer who had already purchased two of our kennel blocks from us requested this four bay kennel system.  The full height sleeping areas measured 6ft6 wide by 4ft deep providing plenty of internal space for their pack of Spaniels and Labs.  The runs were a massive 13ft long by 6ft6 wide, giving their working dogs ample room for stretching and walking around.

Stokbord Lining

The inside and fronts of the kennel sleeps were lined with 6mm thick Stokbord.  This protects the wood underneath and also prevents dogs chewing at the exposed timber.

Sliding Hatches

Sliding hatches are useful to keep dogs inside the sleeping area if housed overnight. They can also keep your dog in one area while you are cleaning.

Wipe Clean Flooring

Phenolic coated plywood is used as the kennel sleep floor.  The wipe clean surface is anti-bacterial and makes cleaning easier.
