Parrot Aviaries
Our parrot aviaries give your birds a safe outdoor space to fly, climb, forage and enjoy fresh air and natural light. Each aviary is handmade to order in Staffordshire and built to stand up to strong, curious beaks.

What makes a good outdoor aviary for parrots?
- Chew-resistant construction. Parrots will test every surface. Mesh fixed to the inside of the frame keeps beaks off the timber.
- The right mesh gauge. Larger parrots such as macaws and cockatoos need a heavier gauge than budgies or cockatiels.
- A sheltered shelter or roost section with a solid roof and sides, so your birds can get out of wind, rain and hot sun.
- A safety porch so birds can’t escape when you go in.
- Space to fly and climb, with perches, ropes and room for enrichment.
Sizes for different parrots
We build aviaries for everything from budgies and cockatiels to African greys, Amazons and macaws. As a rule, the bigger the bird and the more time it spends outside, the larger the flight should be. Longer flights encourage real flying rather than hopping. Tell us the species and number of birds and we’ll suggest a layout.

Options we can include
- Attached bird room or shed for winter housing and food storage
- Insulated roost section and shutters
- Multiple flights for different species
- Feeding hatches so you can feed without entering
- Raised feet to protect the timber

Parrot aviary FAQs
Can parrots live outside in the UK?
Many parrots enjoy time in an outdoor aviary, provided there is a sheltered, draught-free section and, for colder months, a heated or insulated indoor area. Check the needs of your species.
What mesh should I use for a parrot aviary?
Welded mesh, with a heavier gauge for larger, stronger-beaked parrots. Fixing it to the inside of the frame protects the timber.
Will my parrot chew a wooden aviary?
Parrots chew, so we design aviaries to keep beaks away from exposed timber wherever possible.
Can you build a parrot aviary attached to a shed?
Yes. A combined shed and aviary gives you a bird room for winter and storage for food and equipment.
