Bespoke Aviary with Shutter

A shutter is a simple addition to an aviary, but it makes a real difference to how usable the space is throughout the year. Fitted to an opening in the housing area, a shutter can be closed to shield birds from driving rain, strong wind or harsh sun, and opened again to let in light and fresh air once conditions improve.

This bespoke aviary was built with a shutter positioned over the main housing section, giving the owner control over ventilation and shelter without needing to alter the structure itself. It’s a particularly useful feature for aviaries in more exposed locations, or for owners who want to fine-tune conditions for more sensitive species.

As with all of our bespoke builds, the aviary was constructed from pressure-treated timber with a securely meshed flight area, built to the dimensions and layout the customer needed rather than a fixed standard size. Bespoke features like a shutter are easy to incorporate into a build from the outset, giving a more tailored result than trying to adapt a standard aviary afterwards.
